My name is Cathy Rowland and I have been married to my husband Rick for 37 years. I have 2 children, Cheri who lives in Baldwin and my son Shawn who lives in Virginia. I have lived in Baldwin City, Kansas for 30 years. I love to spend time with my grandchildren Dakota and Mikayla, working in my garden and cooking.
Philosophy My experience as a preschool teacher and owner is the committment to bringing experience and expertise to the students I serve by addressing needs of the "Whole Child Research.” To establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment requires the teacher to have a well-planned out classroom along with curriculum that is based on developmentally appropriate practices. The children should be part of this process to teach self-help skills. Love, patience and commitment to the child is the key. Use a child's passion through play to get the child interested in learning. Take what they love and help them discover a positive path. Using a Montessouri approach in the classroom helps the child learn independence, self esteem, leadership qualities and the love of the environment. I do not run the classroom. The children do. I follow their lead in teaching to my full potential.
